Dickie Braddick
20/4/2022
Today, we endure the saddest of days,
Leaving us empty, in so many ways.
Though brightened by memories made,
Built stronger, through stories relayed.
For Dickie was a special breed,
At work or family, born to lead,
A feisty character, such clear views
Rely on Dickie to challenge the news!
But this was a man full of love;
Generous and fun without kid glove.
Always there for a friend in need
Listened, questioned, to plant a seed.
A Yorkshire lad, whose parents knew
He’d fly the nest and make what’s due.
In Jean and Keith, two shining stars
Work hard ethic; passion for cars
When Uni-bound he found some mates
Drinking, sports, fun and fetes.
The Directors became his home to be,
His future path, for all to see
Exhibition stands became his trade,
Life on the road often made,
Shirts and hats from RB Design
Filling attics including mine.
Fast and furious cars his style,
Speedo prone to break the dial
Courtroom dates, many a time
Hello copper, what’s the fine?
With Anne-Marie, a baby spree
Two bouncing girls upon his knee.
A Dad in training, he did start
Taking to it from the heart.
A shining light or rod of steel
Imo and Zara knew the deal.
Always looking for their best
Dad’s law often put to the test
Marrying Lou, wow what a bride!
They took to life, bursting with pride.
Always interested in people they met,
Happy to explore wherever they set
With wedding bells, he had the glue
The Bradwin family shepherded by Lou
A guiding hand; unwavering support
Right til the end, while Dickie fought.
Through George he found male bond
Leeds & banter he was fond.
Taking Dickie in a new direction
Teenage boundaries needing reflection!
In the end, he was digging deep
Still positive, even whilst asleep.
To all the staff we say ‘thank you’,
From Imo, George, Zara and Lou
Moving forward, with memories dear
A future ahead, the message is clear:
To George, Imo and Zara too
Go, conquer the world, we’re all with you
So here’s where we end, with Dad’s advice,
Make the most of life, you don’t live twice.
Cherish your close family and keep them near,
With this and friendship, you have nothing to fear.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
